Russian Universities took about 140 positions by 38 Subjects in QS World University Rankings by Subject.
Analysts of QS company (Quacquarelli Symonds) examined universities from 74 countries by 46 subjects. This year 4 new subjects were included into QS Rankings: “Anatomy and Physiology”, “Hospitality Management”, “Sport and Related Subjects” and “Theology and Religious Studies”.
Among Russian universities Lomonosov Moscow State University demonstrated the best performance, it is featured in top-50 rankings by 7 subjects. The highest rank is in Linguistics as Lomonosov Moscow State University raised from 17 to 13 place. National University of Science and Technology MISiS (NUST MISiS) takes 31 place in the subject ranking “Engineering – Mineral&Mining”.
Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) improved its performance in the Subject rating “Physics & Astronomy”. Last year MIPT was ranked in the group 101-150, this year – 42 place. Only 8 ranks lower in this subject rating is another Russian University – Novosibirsk State University (NSU) took 50 place. St. Petersburg State University (SPbSU) is in the group 51-100, subject ratings “Linguistics” and “Mathematics”.
Higher School of Economics (HSE) demonstrated similar performance in three subject ratings: “Economics and Econometrics”, “Politics and International Relations” and “Sociology”. Kazan Federal University (KFU) ranked in 101-150 group in the subject rating “Linguistics”. Another two Russian Universities – Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) and National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) – were featured among top 201-250 in several subject ratings on engineering disciplines.
Overall, Russian universities significantly improved their performance in QS rankings, especially in STEM disciplines.
